Privacy Policy

The short version

We take a photo of your dog, send it to our AI for translation, and store the translation so you can see your history. We use an anonymous device ID — no account, no email, no name unless you tell us. We never sell your data. We never use your photos to train external models. The Public Feed is opt-in per translation. You can delete your data at any time.

What we collect

Photos you submit. When you tap "translate," your photo is sent over a secure connection (HTTPS) to our API, which forwards it to OpenAI for vision analysis. We store the image and the translation in our database so you can see your history.

Your dog's profile. If you enter your dog's name, breed, age, gender, or photo, we store those to personalize translations. Optional.

Device identifier. A random 32-character ID generated on first launch and stored in your device's secure storage. Used to keep your translation history. No email, no real name, no phone number.

Streak and badge data. Translation count, streak day, and unlocked badges.

What we don't collect

Your name, email, phone number, address, location, contacts, calendar, microphone audio, browsing history, or any data outside the app.

Who we share data with

OpenAI — to process your photo and return a translation. OpenAI's API does not train on data submitted via API by default (per their enterprise data policy). Photos are deleted from OpenAI's servers within 30 days per their retention policy.

Neon (our database) and Vercel Blob (our image host) — store your translations and photos so you can view them later. Standard encrypted infrastructure.

We do not share data with advertisers. We do not sell data. We do not use third-party trackers or analytics that identify you personally.

The Public Feed

Each translation is private by default. Only translations you explicitly toggle "Share to public feed" are visible to other users. You can turn this off any time and the translation returns to private.

Your rights

Email info@doogletranslate.com and we'll:

Delete all your data within 7 days.
Export your translation history as JSON.
Correct any information you want updated.

Under California's CCPA, the GDPR, and similar laws, you have the right to know what we collect, to delete it, and to not be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We honor those rights for everyone regardless of location.

Children

Doogle is intended for users aged 13 and over. We don't knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a minor has used Doogle, contact us and we'll delete the data.

Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. The device ID is stored in your phone's secure keychain (not in JavaScript-accessible storage). Our backend runs on Railway with managed Postgres at Neon — both providers use industry-standard encryption at rest and in transit.

Changes to this policy

If we materially change how we handle your data, we'll update this page and date it. Continued use of the app after a change means you've accepted the new policy.
